Mount Gahinga Rest Camp

Mount Gahinga Lodge is a pleasant little lodge offering accommodation to visitors to Mgahinga National Park. Located a few minutes from the entrance to Mgahinga National Park, the lodge offers accommodation in six spacious cottages with hot showers and large beds. Each cottage has a private balcony looking towards the Lake Mutanda, another amazing attraction within the area.

Mount Gahinga Rest Camp nestles under these towering volcanoes, with spectacular views of the Rift Valley and the emerald-green Lake Mutanda in the distance. The camp is deliberately simple in style and as ecofriendly as is practical. Its great charm, comfort and discreet service make for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Accommodation is in comfortable tents or large bandas, each with its adjoining toilet and bush shower. Fresh wholesome meals combining the best of local cuisine and western tastes are served. A camp site is also available.

The Camp is a day’s drive from Kampala, but an overnight stop at Kabale or Lake Bunyonyi makes the journey more enjoyable. From Kigali, it is about 4 hours drive.

On the very edge of Mgahinga National Park, the Camp is the ideal place for the discerning visitor to stay, in the heart of “the Switzerland of Africa”. You can go gorilla tracking, mountaineering, exploring or just taking in one of the most breathtaking landscapes of Africa. Gazing across at the brooding Congo hills you can almost feel their Conradian mystique.

The lodge was constructed using local materials such as stones and it is a perfect place to stay while on a gorilla trek in Mgahinga National Park. The lodge is located on the Uganda, Congo and Rwanda and thus an ideal base to adventure through three countries. This is the best place for people on the move especially those who are coming from gorilla tracking and need a place to rest from.
