What to do

Mondi Lodge is set in a strategic location, making it an ideal place to connect to nearby destinations such as Bwindi-Mgahinga Ecosystems. While in Bwindi or Mgahinga, expect to enjoy gorilla trekking, a lifetime adventure for you to get up close with a group of mountain gorillas. To visit gorillas in Mgahinga or Bwindi, you should have a valid permit and each is available for booking at USD 800 per person. When on a gorilla trekking tour, expect to visit one of the 24 groups in Bwindi, and if you proceed to Mgahinga, Nyakagezi is the only available group to expect to explore.

Birding –Both Mgahinga and Bwindi offer incredible birding excursions. The two parks provide protect a range of Albertine rift endemic species and resident birds. The varied Albertine rift birds include Kivu ground thrush, Rwenzori turacos, and regal sunbirds. The additional birds to also expect to spot in Mgahinga and Bwindi include white-starred robin, scarlet-tufted malachite sunbirds, Archer’s robin chat, handsome spurfowl, black bee-eaters, Doherty’s bush shrikes, bar-tailed trogon, Rwenzori nightjars, and many others.

Golden monkey tracking plus habituation- It is possible to connect from Mondi Lodge to Mgahinga to get started with your guided golden monkey tracking or golden monkey habituation.
